Impressionist Nature Images

Nature photography is a diverse artistic endeavor, with many perspectives and opinions. I have always tried to produce images that reflect the natural beauty of our world. Doing that with a camera often requires techniques aimed at overcoming the inherent shortcomings of digital photography. What we see in nature with human eyes is always superior to what a camera sensor is capable of recording. So we find ways to portray three dimensional depth or increase dynamic range, or do whatever might be needed to best capture the magnificence of a particular natural scene.

Recently I’ve explored the world of digital painting. Images of this genre are intended to be beautiful. Period. Emphasis is on elegant composition and dynamic impact. The images begin as photographs, and then digital painting techniques are used to create a final result that has a particular artistic flare. I have always loved the works of impressionist painters, such as Cezanne and Van Gogh. Hence I have tried to re-create those styles in a number of new pieces. Have a look and see what you think. I’ve added these to the Norrell Gallery Shop, and they are also available from our PhotoArtResource fulfillment site (just click on any image) for those wanting framed prints, stretched canvas, metal, or acrylic prints. I hope you enjoy the new work.
